Finland’s largest machinery exhibition, FinnMETKO 2024, kicks off on Thursday in Jämsä. Once again, FinnMETKO will showcase the latest innovations in the machinery industry.
On display are both new machine models and innovations that make machine work easier. Interesting new solutions that increase fuel efficiency are expected, especially from hydraulic suppliers.
One of the key themes of the exhibition is fuel efficiency in machinery and the new solutions developed around it. For example, the NorrDigi excavator, developed in collaboration between Norrhydro and Volvo, will be showcased.
This excavator, with its new hydraulic solution, has significantly reduced the fuel consumption of a 30-ton excavator.
Additionally, various systems that facilitate the work of operators continue to be a strong trend in the machinery market. Visitors to FinnMETKO will have the opportunity to explore the latest operator assistance systems.
The number of exhibitors is slightly higher than last time, with over 340 exhibitors participating.
Almost all major domestic machinery manufacturers and importers will be present, showcasing earth-moving machinery, forestry machinery, chippers, crushers, as well as trucks and other utility vehicles.
The event program also includes work demonstrations and driver competitions. At this professional exhibition for the machinery industry, you can also see attachments, equipment, components, and services related to machinery work.
There are more international exhibitors than before, with the most distant ones coming from China and Canada. International interest has grown overall, with visitors expected from South America and Southeast Asia, says exhibition director Tapio Hirvikoski.
Earthmoving machinery back at the gravel pit
The work demonstrations of forestry machines and chippers, as well as the concentration of earth-moving machinery, are in the northern part of the exhibition area at the Kaakkolampi gravel pit. Nearly all earth-moving machinery brands are represented at the gravel pit.
Around the edges of the gravel pit, you’ll also find demonstrations of timber harvesting, which have always attracted large crowds. There are several thinning demonstrations scheduled each day of the exhibition.
Drivers compete for top honors
The exhibition will host competitions to find Finland’s best drivers in three different categories. On Friday, the Finnish Championship in Forest Machine Operation will take place. The competition is open to all professionals in the forestry machinery industry and is organized by Gradia’s forestry department.
Saturday will feature the top driver competition, the Finnish Championship in Earth-Moving Machine Operation. In this event, drivers’ skills will be tested using two different earth-moving machines. The competition is organized by Gradia’s earth-moving department. Additionally, a special competition for young drivers under 15, called the “Junior Driver Competition,” will be held on all exhibition days, from Thursday to Saturday.
The Finnish rounds of the Hiab World Crane Championship (WCC), the world championship for crane operation, will culminate at the FinnMETKO 2024 exhibition. Qualifying rounds have been held in various locations throughout the summer, and the winners will face off in the final at FinnMETKO on Saturday to determine Finland’s crane champion.
Welcome to experience the 20th exhibition
FinnMETKO 2024 will be held in Jämsä from August 29 to 31, 2024. The exhibition is open to the public every day from 9 AM to 5 PM. Tickets can be conveniently purchased online at www.finnmetko.fi.
The first FinnMETKO exhibition was organized in 1987, followed by the second in 1988. Since then, this professional exhibition for the machinery industry has been held every two years, and this year marks the 20th exhibition.
